A Chicago native, Stephanie Cohen earned her B.F.A. from The School of the Museum of Fine Arts, graduated with a B.S. in Biochemistry from Tufts University, and is currently studying at the Tufts University School of Medicine. She has designed journal covers for World Neurosurgery. Her drawings articulate the idea that the human body relies on harmony and equilibrium. Lit Crawl Boston is set to return for Year 3 on Thursday, June 6, 2019 and we're hosting a reading in our 1106 Boylston Street store during phase three (which begins at 8 pm)!

Celebrate the city’s literary past, present, and future on a night of irreverent literary programming in Boston’s Back Bay. Over three evening sessions, intrepid readers will choose from a variety of unique literary events including games, performances, provocations and other oddities, all in surprising venues ranging from ice cream cafes (like us!) and art galleries to barbershops and furniture stores.

Jane De León Griffin is Director of Boston in 100 Words and Associate Professor of Spanish at Bentley University. She holds a PhD in Comparative Literature and is the author of the 2016 book, The Labor of Literature. De León has dedicated much of her academic research to the study of micro-fiction, or in other words very, very short stories. This work has led her to bring the international “In 100 Words” writing contest to the city of Boston. She is excited to share her love of micro-fiction with all who appreciate the art of storytelling. De León Griffin lives in Waltham, MA with her beloved husband, dog, and cat.

Megan Amaral is the Master Model Builder at Legoland Discovery Center Boston. She won the Brick Factor competition to become a Master Model Builder at LEGOLAND Discovery Center Boston in 2015. She has an Architecture Degree from Wentworth Institute of Technology and is particularly good at building animals and structures.

She is currently the only female Master Model Builder at LEGOLAND Discovery Centers in North America.

The artwork to be unveiled is one of Megan’s very early creatives and her favorite LEGO mosaic by far - it took 2,238 Lego Bricks and 16 hours to build.

We will reschedule this event when we have clearer skies in our future! (Friday promises a 75% chance of rain)

The ritual of the Jamaica Pond Lantern Parade began in 1984

Join yout neighbors in this yearly ritual as approximately 4,000 people arrive at Jamaica Pond at sunset with their lanterns; many children arriving in full Halloween costume as well. The parade proceeds around the pond, bringing a trail of bouncing lights into the darkness that can be seen from all directions.

In preparation for the Lantern Parade, Spontaneous Celebrations and community members host lantern making workshops in which youth and adults of all ages create beautiful handmade lanterns from recycled soda bottles decorated with colorful tissue paper. Stay tuned for where to pick up supplies.
