Celebrating 25 Years of Coffee Roasting

We began roasting our own coffee beans in our Jamaica Plain headquarters in 1999. We're celebrating with a brand new Anniversary Blend - available now in all stores by the cup or by the bag. We combined our favorite beans from Indonesia, South America, and East Africa, creating a cup with exceptional sweetness and creaminess and notes of peach, citrus, cocoa, and sugar cane. Get sipping!

We're Hiring!

Most stores are hiring scoopers or supervisors! Stop by your local J.P. Licks or apply online.

We're looking for all shifts but particularly nights and weekends. In the mood to make people smile? Come scoop with us!

We Like Hanging Out With Farmers

Dedham Farmers Market

We've been roasting our own coffee in our Jamaica Plain headquarters for 25 years now. Funny thing though...we meet a lot of people who don't know that! They know we serve coffee but they have no idea we roast our own beans. Newsletters and social media posts can only communicate to people who look at them so we decided to go old school and meet people IN PERSON! And what better place to meet people looking to shop local and shop fresh than at a Farmers Market! During the last week of August, our roaster Hank headed over to the Dedham Farmers Market and set up a tent next to fresh bread baked right in Dedham, fresh produce, grown on nearby farms, a live musician, local artistans, and so much more! He served up samples of our cold brew and hot brewed coffee. Hank selected the beans we use for our cold brew themselves - a Honduras bean that he thinks takes the taste of our cold brew to the next level.

We met A LOT of new people. Every single one of them knew we make and serve our own ice cream and had initially come over to our tent to see if we were scooping. But Hank quickly turned the conversation to our coffee and his 17 years of roasting. Given the heat of the day, most people requested to try our cold brew and then proceeded to purchase a bag of beans to take home or made promises to try a cup the next time they stopped in for ice cream. We had a blast and love introducing people to our coffee which we work so hard to provide fresh to you.

So keep an eye out for us at your next farmers market...or stop into your neighborhood store for a cup of joe or a bag of beans anytime!

Try our New Lemonade Crème

Remember creamsicles? Our new Lemonade Crème calls back to that delightfully sweet and refreshing drink but we combine tart lemonade with our sweet vanilla ice cream for a twist on this treat. Ask for our dairy free Vanilla to make it dairy free.

Cow Paws Enjoyment

Our catering team just worked what is perhaps their favorite event so far. They showed up to set up outside of Bark Boston, with coolers full of our dog-friendly, dairy free, Cow Paws, expecting to hand out the sorbet treat to humans who would continue walking with their pups or bring the dessert home to their furry friends. Well, to the catering team's surprise, the dogs stuck around to enjoy the treat RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM. The afternoon was full of delight for our team. Each pup enjoys their treat in such a unique way...a huge doggo will just bury his face in the cup and not look up until he's done and then only to search for more. For some, the paper cup is decidely in the way and they need to knock the sorbet onto the ground to enjoy. Clearly some really wish they had thumbs to hold their cup as the sorbet seems to actively run away from them with each lick. Everyone once in a while, a pup will eat the ice cream so quickly that her eyes will go wide and it's clear she has brain freeze. But to a dog, they are excited, tails are wagging, and joy decidedly permeates the air. Our team can't help but accept licks and give pets and just laugh along with the pets' humans as everypup devours their cup of honey and peanut butter sorbet. We cater for humans too...and for those events we promise to bring spoons.

Today, we are joined by guest blogger Madison Baker, who sometimes helps us with off site events.

As Boston finally broke from its familiar winter chill, we had the distinct pleasure of partnering with one of the world’s most famous dogs…Bluey! Bingo and Bluey’s strawberry and mango ice creams from the show inspired us and decided to make some of our own. We created this dual flavor so customers could experience both in one scoop.

In May, got to take our ice cream to the Boch Center and surprise families attending Bluey: the Play with complimentary kiddie cups of our new flavor. Bluey’s biggest fans loved the special flavor and delighted in the pre-show treat. The children practiced their big kid ordering skills and had the choice of Bluey’s Strawberry Mango or our Dairy-Free Vanilla. Once given their kiddie cup, our little customers couldn’t help but exclaim “mmm”, and “yummy!” The kids were not alone in their assessment- adults also remarked how delicious and fresh our flavor was. You’re never too old for a kiddie cup!

I had a blast scooping while kids dressed in the most adorable theatre-going outfits told me their favorite things about Bluey. For many of them, it was their first time seeing a live show and I was so grateful to make their first experience just a little bit sweeter!
